Face In The Middle of The Dark

This image belongs to a creepypasta almost lost to time. Were it not for the internet archive, it would've been. I myself actually rescued this image and creepypasta after being introduced to the picture on a horror Discord server I'm a part of.

As the story goes, the image was the last taken photograph of a woman that was murdered. She had been hearing strange noises in her walls, and accidentally got stuck inside them herself while searching for the source of the noise. The woman took one last photograph, before being murdered. When the photograph was developed and released to the public, this was what they saw.

I really like this picture personally. Its so dark that you really have to lean in and squint to see what's going on in it. Its a very effective image, especially if its late at night and you're not expecting it.

The origins of this image are largely unknown, to my knowledge anyways. Nobody has any definitive proof of who made this image or why. Some random reddit user claimed it was their mom. But provided no real evidence for that claim.

I have to wonder if its a Jeff the Killer situation, where the image was created first, then someone unrelated created the creepypasta around the image at a later time.
