Kaiju Khristmas Ending and Retrospective

For those who didn't keep up with The Event while it was active, from December 1st, 2025 to December 31st, 2025, I watched 28 different Kaiju movies. I documented all of my thoughts on each movie as I watched them, as well as capturing some favorite shots from each film. It was a long and at times draining project. But its an event I don't think I will ever forget.

I watched 28 different Kaiju movies. 25 of them from the Godzilla mythos and 3 of them from the Gamera series.

The point of this series was to finally take the plunge into the world of Kaiju movies. Anyone that's taken even a cursory look at my website or projects, will know that I absolutely adore horror. And especially adore Monsters. I found it quite shameful to have never delved into such a large portion of Monster movies, so this month was dedicated to fixing that.

I sit here now on January 4th and think back on the project and all the memories I made with it.

I didn't take this journey alone, you see. I had several friends that watched along with me.

On the internet side of things, I had my good friend Baconator. He's always been a massive Kaiju fan and it was his love for the series that partially inspired me to create this Marathon. He's also responsible for helping me refine and adjust my Kaiju Khristmas marathon list. Without him I never would've added the Heisei Gamera Trilogy, GMK, or Final Wars to my watch list.

On the irl side of things, I had two long time friends following along. At least for some of it. We'll call them W and J. W is another long time Kaiju fan, he'd seen almost all the films on the marathon and knew a lot of trivia about the movies. J was also a fan, but I get the feeling he was more of a superficial one.

I watched a few of the movies in voice call with W and J. Particularly Godzilla Vs. King Kong, Godzilla Vs. Megalon, and Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla. I truly have to thank all three of them for joining me on this journey and making my marathon that much more fun.
